Job Description:
We’re seeking a Structural Lead / Supervisor to oversee the construction of structural steel components, ensuring quality, cost control, and on-time delivery of parts!
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the manufacturing team and suppliers in constructing structural steel components.
- Creating and managing production schedules to ensure timely project completion.
- Implementing cost controls and reviewing job performance regularly.
- Acting as a “working” supervisor by welding and contributing to job tasks as needed.
- Visiting subcontract suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and timelines meet expectations.
- Upholding COF core values of safety, quality, schedule, and value.
- Ensuring the facility, equipment, and supplies are adequate for operations.
- Supervising shop personnel and managing staffing levels to maintain an efficient workforce.
- Communicating effectively with Engineering, Purchasing, and Project Management to minimize costs and ensure on-time delivery.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Technical degree preferred, or 10+ years of relevant welding and/or fabrication industry experience.
- 2-5 years of experience operating MIG, TIG, and/or SAW welding equipment.
- Knowledge of structural steel welding procedures and familiarity with AWS and CWB standards.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to manage a workforce and mentor team members.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, specifications, and implementing efficient manufacturing methods.
- Ability to work within an ERP environment and manage ongoing job costs effectively.
- Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and walk 10,000-20,000 steps per day in a heavy steel fabrication shop environment.
