QUALIFICATIONS: MUST HAVE CURRENT DAIRY EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION – Proven experience in calf and heifer management within a dairy operation.- Strong background in herd health with the ability to diagnose and treat animal health issues.- Proficient in AI breeding techniques and management.- Knowledge of genetics is highly desirable.- Excellent leadership and motivational skills with previous supervising experience.- Experience in inventory management and supply ordering.- Proficient in data entry and record keeping.- Ability to speak Dairy Spanish is a plus but not required.Personal Attributes:- Hands-on approach with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions.- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and independently as needed. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Calf / Heifer Manager to join their team and oversee the care and management of their calf and youngstock operations.Position Overview:The Calf / Heifer Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive management of the calf and heifer program, from wet calves to pre-fresh heifers. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in calf and heifer care, herd health, AI breeding, and record keeping.

The successful candidate will ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and that all protocols and procedures are meticulously followed.Key Responsibilities:- Calf and Heifer Care: Oversee the care and management of calves and heifers, ensuring their well-being and growth from birth through to pre-fresh stages.- Herd Health: Utilize your expertise in herd health to spot, diagnose, and treat sick animals, implementing effective health management practices.- Breeding and Feeding Programs: Manage AI breeding processes and oversee feeding programs to ensure optimal growth and reproductive performance.- Leadership and Supervision: Provide leadership and motivation to a team, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and in line with established procedures.- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records related to animal health, breeding, and feeding, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards.- Inventory and Supply Management: Manage inventory levels and oversee ordering medical supplies to ensure that all necessary materials and equipment are available.- Genetics: Utilize a background in genetics to inform and improve breeding strategies and herd performance.- Spanish Language: If applicable, utilize Spanish language skills to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking team members and enhance operational efficiency.ALL INQUIRIES ARE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL.
