Boot Fitting is a skilled trade, previous custom boot fit experience is required to apply for this position.

The Boot Fitter’s job duties include fitting new ski and snowboard boots, custom building athletic footbeds, re-fitting boots through manipulation of the hard shells/liners, sales of boots and related equipment and accessories. The Boot Fitting Team maintains an appointment book and a schedule that aligns with guest visitation levels. Boot Fitters are responsible for the cleanliness, organization and maintenance of all boot-fitting tools, equipment, and facilities. Part of the Taos Sports Retail and Rental Team, Boot Fitters are required to participate in the day-to-day responsibilities of these guest facing workspaces.

Hourly compensation based on industry standards and commensurate with prior professional experience. Affordable staff housing opportunities may be available.

Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Correctly fit retail ski and snowboard boots, build custom footbeds and adjust boot shells professionally for walk-ins and by appointment.
  • Actively work in Retail and or Rentals, engaging customers and directing them to the right place or person.
  • Lead by example with product knowledge of skis and boards, bindings, ski poles, and related gear.
  • Outfit all guests with the right gear for the right experience.
  • Lead by example with world-class customer service.
  • Manage multiple guests in a short period of time.
  • Resolve issues quickly and efficiently for the guest and company.
  • Maintaining a schedule and appointment book.
  • Lead by example with cleanliness and organizational excellence.
  • Play a lead role in Retail and or Rentals Sales.
  • Participate in sales, cashiering, stocking, and merchandising.
  • Participate in daily cleaning and organizational duties.
  • Attend and engage in trainings for professional development.
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge


  • 2 years/seasons minimum custom boot fitting and sales experience required
  • 2 years minimum snow sports hard good sales preferred.
  • 4 years skiing and or snowboarding experience.
  • Skiing and or snowboard formal instruction on equipment and technique.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
  • Retail point-of-sale cashiering experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple functions simultaneously in a high-pressure environment and on strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrates experience appropriately handling differences, both internally and/or with guests.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require moving on uneven, snow packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions. Travel may be required during trade shows.

Physical Demands of Position Include:
75% of time spent standing/walking. 15% of time at a point of sale or computer.
