The Snowsports Custodian helps our guests and co-workers feel comfortable and safe by ensuring the Rio Hondo Learning Center is clean, attractive, and safe. This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of the Rio Hondo Learning Center including janitorial tasks throughout the building, maintenance of cleaning equipment, and snow removal. Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Conduct general cleaning and maintenance of the building daily including but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, and washing windows and doors
  • Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and disinfecting of the Rio Hondo Learning Center
  • Ensure all areas are always stocked including hand sanitizer stations, toilet paper dispensers, and paper towel dispensers
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment
  • Remove trash and replace bags as needed throughout the building
  • Remove snow and maintain walkways using shovels, snow blowers, de-icing agents, sand and gravel (during winter months)
  • Maintain janitorial inventory and report restocking needs to management
  • Oversee maintenance of all cleaning equipment
  • Assist RHLC Kitchen with various tasks including cleaning, dishwashing, and trash removal.

  • Cooperates with all area employees and co-workers in the performance of duties
  • Participates with the team is essential for the success of the Guest, Instructor, Snowsports School, and Area
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Knowledge:


  • Works independently, without close supervision
  • Familiarity and experience with general janitorial tasks and procedures
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques for cleaning and sanitation of public restrooms and other facilities
  • Basic Knowledge of repair and maintenance skills and/or ability to learn quickly
  • Communicates well with all departments and staff
  • Demonstrates excellence in guest services as measured by consistently displaying respect for internal and external guests and good conflict-resolution skills
  • Dependable, punctual, reliable, and flexible
  • Is quick to recognize situations within her/his realm that need to be improved or potential problems and acts promptly to develop or propose solutions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff
  • This position is 90% inside and works around children ages 3yo – 13yo

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during holidays and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions.



Physical Demands of Position Include:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs throughout the day
  • Must be able to bend and move from standing to squat and kneel positions several times throughout the day
  • Must be able to walk up and down two flights of stairs several times per shift
  • Must be agile, sure-footed, and cautious on slippery surfaces
  • Must be prepared to work outside in changing and potentially extreme weather conditions
  • Maintains personal safety as a top priority
