Primary Purpose: We are seeking a detail-oriented ETL Tester to validate the process of extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from flat files into MySQL databases. The ETL Tester will play a critical role in ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency throughout the ETL pipeline by designing, executing, and maintaining test cases and scripts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data processing, database management, and QA principles.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

1) Test Planning & Strategy: Develop detailed test plans, scenarios, and scripts to validate ETL processes for loading data from flat files into MySQL databases. Write structured Test Plans from specifications conforming to established methodology and standards

2) Data Validation: Perform comprehensive data validation at each stage of the ETL process to ensure data is accurately extracted from flat files, correctly transformed according to business rules, and loaded into the MySQL database without discrepancies.

3) Test Execution: Execute manual and automated tests to validate ETL workflows, including boundary, performance, and load testing.

4) Data Quality Assurance: Identify and document data quality issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies.

Validate data mapping, data integrity, and transformations according to business requirements.

5) Troubleshoot Large ETL Systems: Help operate, troubleshoot, and problem solve ETL problems in large systems. This sometimes includes off-hours troubleshooting and maintenance of critical processes.

6) SQL Query Development: Write and execute SQL queries to validate data accuracy and integrity in MySQL databases.

Develop complex queries to cross-verify and validate large datasets.

7) Collaboration: Work closely with developers, DBAs, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and present test results.

8) Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, test results, test scripts, and defect logs.

9) Attend team meetings

10) Take initiative to learn and expand role

11) Perform other tasks and have such other responsibilities as assigned by Car-Part from time to time

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Proven experience: (2-5 years) as an ETL Tester or QA Engineer with a focus on data validation and database testing. Hands-on experience testing ETL processes involving flat file inputs and MySQL databases.

Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, particularly MySQL.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL tools. Experience working with Linux/Unix environments. · Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) .
