Amazing Cardiology (non-Invasive) Opportunity in the 'Heart of Louisiana'

The Alexandria VA Medical Center in Alexandria/Pineville, LA, is seeking a full-time, BC/BE, non-invasive Cardiologist to serve as a member of its Cardiology Team.  Known as the ‘Heart of Louisiana’, Alexandria/Pineville has been ranked by National Geographic Traveler as one of America’s top ten “wilderness towns” because of its incredible access to one of the country’s most beautiful and expansive national forests.  Candidates must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and exceptional health of our Veterans.  The Alexandria VA Health Care System is fully dedicated to providing top-quality medical care by serving and honoring America’s Veterans.   

Highlights of this position include:

• Competitive Starting Salary $350,000-$400,000
• Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm., NO CALL
• Provide Cardiology care for inpatients and outpatients at the facility and select Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)
• Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with cardiac diseases
• Deliver interventions throughout the full spectrum of Cardiology care
• Perform full general cardiology examinations on established or newly consulted patients, including electronic consultations (e-Consults) in the Cardiology clinics or Urgent Care Department for signs or symptoms of cardiac disease
• Supervise and interpret exercise stress tests
• Input progress/consult notes for inpatient and outpatient encounters within prescribed timelines
• Ability to recognize patient signs of physical distress and monitor the patient’s condition
• Knowledge of computerized patient records systems

• Annual performance bonus up to an additional $15K per year

• Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and separate 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
• Possible 5 days for CME’s and up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification)
• This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), if approved
• Recruitment or Relocation may be authorized for highly qualified candidates
• No Physician Employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Additional Requirements:

• Board Certified/BE in Cardiology
• Certified in Nuclear Cardiology
• Five (5) years of experience
• Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
• Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
