Michigan Medicine Ambulatory Care facility at the Briarwood Medical Group is dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adult patients. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, self-driven, patient and team-oriented Patient Services Assistant/Associate who will share in the goal of creating the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide excellent customer service and support to the Saline Health Center patients, families, providers and team members.
  • Administrative duties as assigned.
  • Manage pre-arrival functions to assure all necessary information has been obtained for clinic visits, perform check in/out duties, provide patients with appropriate paperwork, collect co-pays, make outbound telephone calls, schedule and reschedule patient appointments.

Required Qualifications*


  • High school diploma/GED or an equivalent of education.
  • Demonstrated customer service excellence
  • Welcoming and approachable demeanor with a consistently positive and professional attitude.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated active listening, verbal, written and information technology communication skills
  • Must be very comfortable working with computers and have a general knowledge of office practices
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability
  • Requires flexibility in all aspects of work assignments

Assistant Level: Requires 0-2 years of experience. High School Diploma or GED.

Associate Level: Requires 2-3 years of experience. High School Diploma or GED.



Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience working in a patient care setting and within a large, complex, outpatient healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Experience with Michigan Medicines electronic medical record system.


Work Schedule

This position is 40 hours/week with variable hours Monday – Friday with Saturday rotation.

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the Service Employees International Union – Healthcare Michigan (SEIU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening


Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
