Kraken has historically been a first and remains an ongoing leader among European crypto exchanges, with plans to continue this momentum. This role will focus on Germany’s unique market and be our go-to on-the-ground leader in this geo.
Kraken has an EMI license to operate throughout the EU. We are also pursuing further licensing to offer our current and future product suite to all EU member states. With a solid foundation of German clients, we are looking to solidify our local operations, regulatory status, and commercial playbook in this market.
We are seeking a leader to manage our Germany localization efforts and be our resident expert and face in Germany. This role will be based in Germany (remote) and report to our Regional GM Europe and work with global teams to win in market.
The opportunity
- Offer subject matter expertise on the German market – macro outlook, competitors, client preferences, local operational and regulatory matters, etc – to enable an optimal go-to-market playbook
- Provide recommendations and potentially execute on local partnerships, data sources, and other opportunities within the German market
- Interface with local regulators as required and oversee compliance activity specific to Germany operations
- Develop cross-functional partnerships with legal, compliance, marketing, sales, and product to ensure our activity is sufficiently localized and primed for success in Germany
- Execute locally in the market – this may include local PR, conference speaking, events, institutional account relationships, and marketing campaign execution leadership
- Have strong command of Germany results including product adoption, commercial campaign results, client behaviour, and performance trends
- Manage ad hoc Germany projects as required
Skills you should HODL
- 10+ years of experience in financial services and/or crypto
- Experience with financial services regulatory and compliance initiatives
- Strong familiarity with how crypto businesses operate – fiat and crypto custody, exchange operations, order book, broker models, staking, OTC trading, etc
- Strong understanding of blockchain and crypto concepts, with the capability to explain highly technical concepts to less familiar parties
- Extensive experience in project management; achieving outcomes with excellent cross-functional communication
- Excellent organizational skills; experience in standardizing processes across multiple functions and geographies
- Strong financial analysis experience; able to analyze a potential strategy and consider quantitative cost/benefit
- Excellent communication skills; able to write persuasive and comprehensive memos, slide decks, and analyses
- Experience working autonomously but able to roll up your sleeves and achieve high velocity results
- Strong crypto ethos
