Are you passionate about food and beverage new product development? As a Product Development Technologist at California Natural Color, you will work cross functionally to support the formulation and development of new colors derived from natural sources. You will provide technical support to sales, marketing, research, and operations teams to enable a better understanding of the needs and requirements of current and potential customers. Your work will help us grow and be a solution provider to our customers.
What You’ll Do
- Conducts market research to identify and produce samples of applications for new and existing products.
- Participates in the development of new products and experimental blends using benchtop and pilot equipment.
- Provides technical assistance to customers by performing application experiments for customer specific projects and strategic partners.
- Participates in interdepartmental planning and customer interaction to maximize California Natural Color’s profits and long term viability.
What You Need
- High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science.
- Required to work overtime when necessary.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
- Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science plus 2 years of laboratory food and beverage research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science.
- Experience with colors from natural sources in a diverse range of applications.
- Experience interacting with all levels and functions within the company.
Compensation:
- Set rate listed as $24.18 – $36.30 / hour.
- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
