Role Summary:
The R&D Field and Warranty Steering Specialist is responsible to track and steer the R&D organization in close collaboration with the Quality team towards parts optimization in a timely manner. This position acts as “one face to the customer” acting as the interface between Quality and NAR R&D for all FAP / FPQ / Top Q topics to assure timely resolution of Engineering related topics.
Role Responsibilities:
Main Responsibility- (70%)
- Coordinate Top-Q, FPQ & FAP (Quality related) topics for NAR R&D to escalate and resolve any technical issues which are impacting vehicle quality
- Steer the responsible R&D teams in the NAR Region or within the VW Group for part optimization in terms of technical content, cost and timing
- Closely track implementation status and timelines of each quality topic
- Create and report R&D status summary in R&D and Quality meetings/committees on a regular basis
- Align and incorporate improvement measures with the technical project organization
- Act as the integrational point for multi disciplinary technical topics within the R&D organization
- Evaluate in terms of risk management
- Align quality impacts with stakeholders in NAR and the VW Group
Additional responsibilities – (30%)
- Project Management Expertise – integrating various timing schedules to identify and mitigate timing slips.
- Plans and executes workshops with different stakeholders if necessary.
- Tracks project status in detail and informs VP of Engineering on a regular basis.
- Escalates issues early to stakeholders, if needed.
Qualifications:
Years of experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in the automotive industry. With at least 3 years of experience in automotive engineering or product quality.
Education- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Education- Desired:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering
Skills:

- Good knowledge and work experience of the development processes within the automotive industry and the VW Group
- Good knowledge and work experience of the quality processes within the automotive industry and the VW Group
- Good team spirit, tracking, and communication skills
- Experienced in handling projects within the automotive industry
- Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Browsers).
Specialized Skills- Desired:
- German language skills
- Good knowledge and work experience of the product development process (PEP) at VW AG
- Experienced projects within VW AG
- Excellent strategically thinking, negotiation, and communication skills
Work Flexibility:
- 10% travel required within the NAR Region
