Technical Sales Support Engineer Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Sales Support Engineer for Actuation & Control to play a key role in supporting sales efforts, enhancing customer relationships, and providing in-depth technical expertise for actuation systems and control valve equipment within a defined territory. This position works closely with internal sales teams, business development professionals, and industry stakeholders to foster growth and success within the actuation and control product line.
Technical Sales Support Engineer Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Act as the primary resource for expertise in control valves, actuation systems, and related markets, offering technical support and guidance.
- Sales Support: Collaborate with regional representatives and participate in customer meetings to promote actuation and control valve solutions.
- Strategic Partnership: Work alongside regional managers and business development teams to execute sales strategies and support overall business objectives.
- Customer Engagement: Develop strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and recommend customized product solutions.
- Market Development: Partner with industry managers to drive initiatives in key sectors such as Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, Chemicals, Power, and others.
- Training Delivery: Lead technical training sessions for local sales teams and channel partners, ensuring a strong understanding of products and their applications.
- Problem Solving: Provide field-level troubleshooting to address technical issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Market Insights: Offer feedback to leadership on industry trends, pricing, and opportunities for product innovation.
- Quotation Review: Validate and review product quotes to ensure accuracy and alignment with customer needs.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with application engineering and inside sales teams to streamline the preparation and delivery of quotes and proposals.
Technical Sales Support Engineer Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Mechanical, Industrial) or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in engineering, technical sales, or industrial sales, particularly with valves, flow control, pumps, or instrumentation products.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of control valves and actuation systems, with familiarity in products like butterfly valves, ball valves, and knife gate valves.
- Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs and provide effective product solutions, with a clear understanding of the sales process.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for technical presentations and customer engagement.
- Technology Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools (e.g., Dynamics 365), with excellent documentation and reporting abilities.
- Travel Availability: Willingness to travel up to 50% within the region and occasionally beyond.
- Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license and adherence to company vehicle policies.
