SUMMARY
Assists in all heavy equipment and snowplow functions related to snow removal. Operator may be asked to support other departments with such activities as: tree and shrub relocation or removal, ground leveling, excavation, sand and gravel placement, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Clear snow and ice that accumulates around the resort as needed and on call. These areas include all parking lots, roads, Nordic Center, and pathways.
Snow removal efforts include the operations of heavy equipment, (e.g. front end loader, backhoe, skid steer) and snow plow with salt spreader.
Operate heavy equipment and snowplow in accordance with the training you receive from the Snow Removal Foreman and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Pile snow in the designated and approved locations only.
Ensure equipment is in good condition through daily equipment and vehicle inspections.
Performing the necessary preventative maintenance on the equipment and vehicles, (e.g., oil changes, grease, etc.)
Report safety concerns with equipment to Snow Removal Foreman
Ensures parking lots and roads are free of hazards.
Fuel equipment and vehicles in accordance with company protocols.
Assist the Parking and Grounds departments, as needed, with parking guests, driving shuttle bus, shoveling and snow-blowing walkways.
Works in extreme temperatures and outdoor weather conditions
Report all injuries to Snow Removal Foreman
Ensure cleanliness of equipment, vehicles, shuttles and parking lots.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment such as front end loader, backhoe, snowplow, sander and dozer.
TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS
None.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers’ License in good standing as determined by Sundance’s Insurance Company guidelines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
