Position Summary
San Diego State University is seeking a dedicated Facilities and Operations Coordinator to join the Athletic Facilities and Operations Department. This role is essential for implementing strategies to effectively manage and perform daily functions for all Athletic Department-sanctioned events, while maintaining and organizing the related facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with scheduling, setup, and breakdown of all athletic department events, including team practices, competitions, and facility maintenance and improvement. Oversee several key facilities, including Fowler Athletics Center, Jeff Jacobs JAM Center, Peterson Gym, Tony Gwynn Stadium, SDSU Softball Stadium, Aztec Tennis Center, Snapdragon Stadium, Sports Deck, Viejas Arena, practice fields, and the Aquaplex. Assist with daily functions, responding to specific departmental events, and facility needs, handling administrative and clerical duties. Coordinate with vendors and external groups to organize events and control inventory. Provide work direction to Facilities and Operations interns and student assistants, and assist in training new departmental employees. Manage game day preparations, including advanced planning and post-event breakdown, and support specific-sport game coordination. Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on December 31, 2025, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.) The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.



Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.



These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Key Qualifications

  • At least one-year experience in an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics Facilities and Operations office.
  • Experience in training and leading student workers.
  • Two or more years of experience in an NCAA Division I, II, III intercollegiate athletics Facilities and Operations office is preferred.
  • Experience staging football and basketball events and serving as the game day manager for various sports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and schedule athletic activities.
  • Must possess fiscal responsibility and ability to interpret budgets.
