Security and Risk Management
- Implement and monitor daily safety and security measures, including property patrols and emergency readiness.
- Investigate incidents of property loss or safety violations and recommend solutions to mitigate risks.
- Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct routine safety checks and document findings.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as required.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and organizational safety standards.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, schedule, and train security staff to ensure effective coverage and skill development.
- Communicate the importance of safety protocols and foster an environment of teamwork and accountability.
- Provide performance feedback and support staff growth through mentoring and coaching.
- Encourage recognition programs to celebrate team achievements.
- Act as a professional role model by demonstrating ethical behavior and decision-making.
Customer and Guest Relations
- Deliver exceptional customer service by promoting a secure and welcoming environment.
- Empower staff to address guest concerns related to safety proactively and effectively.
- Ensure the team prioritizes guest safety and satisfaction in all interactions.
Compliance and Training
- Maintain up-to-date records of staff training, certifications, and safety drills.
- Assist in conducting regular safety and compliance meetings.
- Ensure all team members hold current first aid and CPR certifications.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to manage workplace incidents and ensure proper documentation.
Administrative and Additional Duties
- Analyze data and reports to identify areas for safety improvement.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding security developments and initiatives.
- Support the Area Director with strategic planning and operational execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned by hotel management.
The salary range for this position is $68,640 to $86,600. This is the pay range for this position that Hyatt Regency Long Beach reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of experience in security or loss prevention.
• OR An associate degree in Criminal Justice or a related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Previous leadership experience in a security or safety role preferred.
• Previous hotel operation experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
• Strong leadership (servant leadership approach) and team-building skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve safety hazards effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Familiarity with safety compliance regulations and emergency procedures.
• Proficient in basic computer applications and incident reporting systems.
