The role you’ll contribute:



The Pharmacy Retail Manager is the medication expert, with activities primarily involving the provision of pharmaceutical care to the public. The Pharmacy Retail Manager performs and/or oversees all accountabilities associated with compounding and dispensing medications and for provided patient specific information on side effects, interactions and expected benefits of the medications dispensed. The Manager is responsible for projecting and adhering to the budget and productivity standards as written.

Pharmacy Operations


• Oversee the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications to patients


• Review prescriptions issued by prescribers to assure accuracy; detect therapeutic incompatibilities


• Organize and direct pharmacy technician workflow including verifying preparation and labeling of prescription medications as well as verifying order entries, charges, and inspections


• Assist technicians in resolving third party rejection issues promptly for claim resolution


• Compound medications using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients


• Oversee process of product ordering, establishing and maintaining pharmacy inventory and supplies


• Answer telephones and take messages for new prescriptions, patient refill requests, and all other pharmacy functions


• Maintain awareness of loss prevention controls and procedures to identify and minimize profit loss


• Operate point of sale system as needed


• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacy computer system utilized by client partner site


• Performs other duties as assigned



Compliance

• Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policy regarding medication incidents


• Comply with state and federal laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration


• Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs


Patient Engagement/Care Coordination


• Answer questions and provide counseling to patients on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals


• Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment and responding promptly to requests; maintain patient confidentiality


• Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with physicians and other healthcare professionals within client partner site


Continuing Education


• Participate in continuing education courses and review pharmacy-related literature; complies with National Standards of Continuing Education to maintain professional competency and proficiency


• Keeps abreast of new items, changing laws, regulations, and new pharmacy-related programs


• Demonstrate compliance with company policies and procedures


Results Measured



• Financial metrics (i.e., capture all patients being discharged – total sales, optimize on usage of generic utilization, minimize return to stock prescriptions, minimize total lost return to stock sales, maintain budget)



• Readmission metrics (i.e., impact of counseling, correctly fill medication, address issues expediently)



• Pursue likelihood of offering home health and infusion prescriptions. Follow up on implementation as agreed upon by director



• Monitor budgeted hours to ensure employees are abiding by scheduled hours and not incurring overtime


• Effectively control inventory to minimize waste while ensuring that fast movers are appropriately stocked in sufficient quantities.


• Effectively manage accounts receivables and payables and optimizing their turnover.


• Optimize inventory turnover metrics.


• Manage and control narcotics stock and diversion.


• Capture Health Partner and physician office prescriptions.


• Establish delivery services.


The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:


Minimum qualifications:


·         Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy


·         Three years of pharmacist experience


·         Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school


·         Licensed Texas Pharmacist
