Plasma Operator

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Plasma Operator to join our team. The Plasma Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining plasma cutting machines, ensuring precision cutting, and producing high-quality metal parts as per production requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plasma cutting techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines to cut metals, such as steel, and other materials, according to design specifications and blueprints

• Ensure machines are calibrated properly for accurate cuts and minimal waste

  
  

• Select and load materials into the plasma cutting machine.

• Inspect materials for defects and ensure proper alignment before cutting.

  
  

• Monitor cutting quality to ensure it meets the specified standards.

• Measure cut pieces to verify dimensions and tolerances.

  
  

• Perform visual inspections and adjust settings to ensure quality cuts.

• Regularly maintain and clean plasma cutting machines to ensure optimal performance.

  
  

• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with equipment, including replacing consumables such as nozzles, electrodes, or plasma tips.

• Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.

  
  

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols related to plasma cutting operations.

• Maintain production logs, including the number of pieces cut, machine downtime, and any issues encountered.

  
  

• Report any machine malfunctions or material shortages to the supervisor promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED

• 1-2 years of experience in CNC plasma laser or torch cutting machines and their operation.

  
  

• Solid understanding of safety protocols related to plasma cutting and general manufacturing environments

• Work effectively in a team environment.

  
  

• Work with limited supervision and direction.

• Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.

  
  

WORK HOURS

Typical Monday-Friday schedule, with some night and weekend work as required to meet business objectives.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, of up to 75 pounds, is required. Considerable walking, climbing of stairs and extended reaching may be required. Will have to work with various power and manual tools, and forklift. Must be able to handle extreme weather conditions.
