Job Description

To lead and facilitate daily operations of the two BFY Early Learning Center classrooms. To implement curricula and programs, manage staff, create and manage records on program participants. Be a liaison between Early Learning Center, After School, and Summer Camp program participants and parents, schools, staff, and the community.



Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with other staff, participants and parents, colleagues, community partners.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of staff and program development.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement curricula and program activities.
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Experience with assisting with curriculum implementation, classroom management, and parental communication, preferred.
  • Meet educational and experience qualifications as set forth by state licensing regulations (ex. Associates degree in education, early education, or related field or equivalent years of experience).

Essential Functions



1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill the YMCA’s objectives.


2. Ensures proper registration for program participants.



3. Monitors daily program operations to adhere to all state and YMCA health and safety regulations.


4. Helps maintain accurate staff and children’s records.



5. Staff scheduling.


6. Assist in developing and maintaining a positive child care staff team, working toward the same goals, with a vision of offering high quality, high value programs for participants.



7. Attend and participate in program activities, staff meetings, and required staff trainings.


8. Evaluate each child’s needs.



9. Building upon the provided curriculum, plan lessons/activities in accordance with program goals and needs of children.


10. Establish clear objectives for each lesson.



11. Set up and change on a regular basis new learning centers in classroom.


12. Assist children in learning personal hygiene.



13. Evaluate student progress and write semi-annual and annual reports on each child.


14. Advise parents regarding child’s daily progress/problems/concerns.



15. Conduct parent-teacher conferences once a year and on an “as needed” basis.


16. Assist with parent communication on a daily basis through emails, memos, parent boards regarding calendar and curriculum updates as well as any events or issues.



17. Additional duties assigned and required by supervisors to support the overall mission of the YMCA and promote the success of Child Care Development.


18. Always maintain a safe environment.



19. Supervise and monitor part-time staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS


  • Able to work independently and manage office as well as in a classroom setting.
  • Physically able to assist and participate in children’s activities.
  • Required skills in all Microsoft Office and Excel applications and other software required and on the job training will be provided as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible with changes in tasks required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
