About the Role & Team
We’re looking for an experienced Prop Designer to join an unannounced series at Disney Television Animation! Prop Designers are responsible for c reating and designing all assets that are not Characters or Backgr ound elements for each episode.
What You Will Do
- Design props based on story elements and script descriptions that are consistent with the look and style of the series. May also design effects as needed.
- Design multiple concept pieces for each prop, trying out different versions of the same asset.
- Create turnarounds and provide a clean pass of the final approved design.
- Work closely with production and the Color Stylist to get clean designs to them in a timely manner for shipping.
- Prepare all prop designs for shipment to oversees vendor animation studios.
- Work closely with Art Director to resolve design issues and deadlines.
- Adhere to the production schedule provided by Line Producer to ensure cost effective, timely production.
- Additional duties as necessary, or as defined by individual contracts.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of drawing software including Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3D technology, where applicable.
- A robust portfolio of various Prop Designs for animated shows
- Proven ability to align to the style and sensibility of a particular show.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude with the ability to take creative feedback and address notes.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a television animation pipeline
Education: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
The pay rate for this role in California is $56.88 to $60.33 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
