If so, Rapid and Rural Logistics (R2L) Finance is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst with a record of achieving results.
The Rapid and Rural Logistics team covers a portfolio of high-growth businesses with unique fulfillment and operational capabilities such as Sub Same Day (SSD), Rural Super Rural (RSR), and Amazon Today. Our Finance teams partner closely with our operations teams to influence the strategic direction of the business, drive operations excellence, and make sound investment and expansion decisions, with the primary goal of continuously improving the customer experience while driving long-term profitability for our portfolio of businesses. We experiment constantly, fail fast, and never stop learning.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. They will collaborate with executives and business units across Amazon, bring excellent verbal and written communication skills, and prioritize the most impactful projects and programs to drive businesses forward. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity of building innovative solutions with large-scale data mining tools, identifying high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that impact company-wide strategic decisions.
This role will specifically support the SSD central variable cost modeling and financial planning cycles, as well as associated performance reporting. This will require performing historical analysis and developing forward looking forecasts for productivity metrics, wage metrics and volume mix/composition as inputs to our financial planning model. A successful candidate in this role will also be capable of collaborating with business partners, to refine assumptions and inputs that ultimately drive the business towards its financial commitments. They will also provide ad-hoc analyses as needed to help leadership make decisions. The candidate should also have a technical skillset, a keen eye for process efficiency, and a drive for continuous improvement.
Key job responsibilities
– Collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to gather assumptions and inputs for use in financial planning guidance models.
– Communicate overall variable cost performance, both written and orally, along with key drivers and impacts
– Challenge financial planning assumptions and inputs and insist on the highest standards for accuracy
– Calculate financial impacts for projects on operational productivity and wage costs.
– Work together with supporting Tech teams to develop BI metrics both for operations audience and financial audience and promote data reliability.
– Developing scalable reporting for internal reviews
A day in the life
– Partnering with FPA to help craft narratives for variable cost performance, and overall impact on FulCPU
– Building audit mechanisms to ensure the highest level of accuracy in planning and reporting.
– Partnering with BI teams to create data pipelines, and escalating data availability and or SLA misses.
– Continuously improving planning models, improving the accuracy and cycle time for planning cycles.
– Supporting weekly close of Variable Cost Per Unit, by maintaining up to date assumptions, and providing a quarterly outlook vs financial targets.
– Support month end close Variable Cost Per Unit reporting, reconciling with weekly reporting
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
– 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
– MBA, or CPA
– Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
