Job Summary
Mass General Brigham Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) is seeking an experienced data analyst who has a passion for healthcare data and will thrive as a member of an experienced, high performing and highly motivated team. This person will have a desire to learn and a flexibility to adjust to the fast-changing analytic and reporting demands of our system. The best candidate has solid analytical and communication skills, and experience working with health care data.
Reporting to the High Reliability Organization (HRO) Analytics Manager, the data analyst will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing new clinical data products. The areas of focus include Quality, Safety, Health Equity, Community Health, Patient Experience, Provider Wellbeing, Credentialing, and Pharmacy and Formulary.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define and achieve strategic objectives. They will become a data expert within the OCMO domain, acquire in-depth knowledge of workflows across various healthcare settings, and conduct both routine and complex analyses to address stakeholder needs. The incumbent will be responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with main program stakeholders, providing advice, and sharing knowledge with analysts new to their position. This role involves close collaboration with analytics engineers and visualization developers to ensure cohesive data product development, frequent updates of exploratory analysis visualizations, and the creation of clear business definitions for data products. The candidate will also be responsible for rigorous quality assurance and presenting analytical findings to diverse audiences in an accessible manner.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with a cross-functional team to understand functional product requirements and deliver on strategic data and analytics initiatives.
• Functions as a subject matter expert for data sources within the OCMO scope of responsibilities.
• Develop subject matter expertise in workflows at the Academic Medical Centers (AMCs), Community Hospitals, and Specialty Care facilities.
• Perform ad-hoc and exploratory analyses to meet the immediate needs of stakeholders.
• Partners with analytics engineers and visualization developers to understand production data products to ensure alignment in the analyses they are producing.
• Collaborates with visualization developers to develop visualizations for exploratory analyses that require frequent refreshes.
• Supports the development and documentation of business definitions for all data products.
• Completes thorough quality assurance procedures ensuring accuracy, reliability, trustworthiness, and validity of work.
• Present analytical findings in a variety of formats (reports, PowerPoint, graphs, figures, tables) formulate recommendations, and effectively communicate results to non-analytic audiences.
• Build and foster relationships with senior leadership/physicians and key program stakeholders to understand multifaceted business problems to ensure analytical solutions to complex issues satisfy reporting and analytical needs.
• Guide and train new analysts in their role by familiarizing them with the data products they will use and providing them with relevant information about the OCMO domains.
• Supports access and onboarding process for third-party quality software (i.e. Vizient Clinical Database).
• Utilize a variety of tools (E.g., SAS, SQL, R, Python, Excel) to access data, write queries, develop programming logic, create dashboards, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to meet the needs of OCMO and its business customers.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, informatics, statistics, or related field and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.
- 3+ years of experience working with healthcare data.
- 3+ years of experience working at a hospital or specialty care facility strongly preferred.
- Epic Proficiency or Certification in Clarity / Caboodle data model or Epic applications is strongly preferred; Epic experience is required.
- Proficiency in querying complex data structures using SQL is required.
- Working knowledge of Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or similar experience is preferred.
- Strong programming skills and proficient in other programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, and Python) as well as working knowledge of data visualization (Tableau) software is preferred.

- Practical problem-solving abilities, i.e., the ability to formulate hypotheses, test options and move forward in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong customer service orientation and the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites.
