About This Role
The candidate will have expert knowledge of Early/Expanded/Managed Access management principles, regulatory requirements, and vendor oversight responsibilities. They must possess a strategic mindset, and the role will be accountable for the performance and results of multiple Global Access Mechanisms programs, development of departmental plans, including business and/or organizational priorities. They may be tasked to provide leadership to subordinate managers with decisions that are guided by resource availability and organizational objectives. This is a high-visibility role with exposure to Biogen senior leadership given the impact these programs have on patient access to potentially life-saving medicines. The candidate will report to the Global Head of Access Mechanisms (GAM) within the RD&M organization.
What You’ll Do
- Initiate and set goals for assigned GAM programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization together with the PDC and regional teams.
- Manage cross-functional working groups and associated communications globally
- Oversee GAM programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, processes, budget, and operations and lead the launch excellence globally
- Devise evaluation strategies, metrics and KPIs to monitor performance of assigned GAM programs and determine the need for strategic continuous improvements with vendor(s) as appropriate
- Ensure all assigned GAM program operations and processes are aligned with GxP SOPs and minimum standards, including quality management of all vendors.
- Make sure appropriate processes and procedures are implemented by the vendor and documented accordingly
- Recognize new process launch needs and implement new processes, recognize and manage change and improvement needs, risk management and control – including SOP and Policy creation/updates
- Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports and presentations on all GAM business updates and strategic initiatives

Qualifications
Required Skills/Education
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (Masters/MBA is preferred) and a minimum 5 + years of relevant industry experience
- Proven extensive Early/Expanded/Managed Access experience is required; (i.e., concepts, principles, regulations, key considerations)
- Demonstrated cross-functional experience with the ability to navigate complex environments
- Vendor management experience
- Strong communication, organizational, project management, and presentation skills
- Solves complex problems; decisions and problem solving are guided by policies, procedures, and department plans
- Expert computer and internet skills including MS-Office products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project
- Ability to work independently, with minimal guidance
- Experience providing leadership to managers, developing departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities
- Able to apply knowledge of key business drivers and the factors that minimize department/area performance; interprets business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, and services
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Post-Trial Access and Humanitarian Access Programs is a plus, but not required
Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is $159,000 – $219,000. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
