Royal Caribbean Group’s Global Supply Chain Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director, Hotel Procurement reporting to the AVP, Global Hotel, Food and Beverage Procurement.
This role will work on-site in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:
Responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the Hotel Procurement team engaged in achieving departmental goals and objectives. Develop sourcing strategies for major Hotel items globally for brands operated by Royal Caribbean Group (RCG) through collaboration with other Supply Chain departments, while building partnerships with Hotel Operations and suppliers to lower the RCG’s overall cost, improve terms, and increase local sourcing.
Manage supplier base globally to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. This position champions best practices of supplier management, quality control, inventory management, and fulfillment.
Accountable for the execution of short- and long-term planning and strategy for assigned commodities, including Hotel Consumables, Hotel Replaceables, and Uniform categories, with approximate $200M spend across ~16,000 SKU’s.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage team of buyers and commodity managers based in North America and global regions, creating the structure, and ensuring it supports the Group’s vessels globally.
• Provide comprehensive training and guidance to hotel procurement team with respect to product specifications, market trends, negotiation strategies, as well as contractual terms and conditions.
• Develop & implement purchasing strategies for all Hotel items globally in collaboration with Hotel Operations, with an aim for delivering value through cost reduction and improved terms while ensuring execution of strategy.
• Responsible for reviewing the specifications, availability, quality and fulfillment on all Hotel items, including collaboration with suppliers to ensure appropriate inventory levels of key items are maintained to support order fulfillment.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Hotel Operations, Newbuild, and external suppliers in order to execute the overall strategies developed for the Group; maintains strong collaboration with suppliers as this is critical for success.
• Manage and negotiate multi-year contracts valued at approximately $30M – $200M for RCG brands, including rebates, equipment, and service schedules.
• Analyze RFQ, pricing, and contract data and present findings and recommendations to Supply Chain, Hotel Operations, and Newbuild leadership.
• Lead Newbuild project procurement activities as it relates to hotel owner supply across all functional areas, including Housekeeping, F&B venues, Uniforms, and all other products traditionally sourced through the Hotel procurement team.
• Develop and lead Supply Chain Management Direct sourcing program in China to lower overall costs and expand RCG’s influence and leverage.
• Drive increased local sourcing initiatives across global markets in conjunction with regional market managers for key commodities including Cleaning Chemicals, OPP & PPE items, Personal Paper, and other high volume / high spend Hotel commodities.
• Manage various warehouse and supplier inventories, including fulfillment process, to ensure delivery; If not find a resolution in a timely manner to avoid shortages.
• Take an active role in RCL inventory process to ensure sourcing strategies are aligned with consumption patterns. Manage monthly inventory at suppliers against awarded quantity and consumption to date. Challenge excess supplier inventory levels and ensure adequate inventory is maintained to fulfill vessel orders.
• Lead Supply Chain Sustainability efforts specifically related to hotel commodities, including single use plastic reduction, such as straws, plates and utensils.
• Lead cost savings initiative on all Hotel commodities. Collaborate with RCG Hotel Operations and Hotel Procurement team to identify and implement sourcing opportunities on new and existing products.
• Evaluate and measure new and existing suppliers. Ensuring on-time delivery performance, inventory level, and invoicing policies are maintained. Conduct quarterly business reviews with all Hotel suppliers.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
• 10 + years related procurement experience or specialized technical experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field.
• Must be able to travel domestic and internationally. Travel up to 20%
• Expert knowledge of key Hotel commodities, major producers / manufacturers in key global markets (North America, Europe, UK, Asia, Australia).
• Experience in market data, such as Urner Berry, USDA, Bloomberg, Dow Jones.
• Understanding of export and import regulations across global markets.
• Ability to interpret key inflation parameters (US Dept of Labor BLS), and commodity specific market indicators.
• Experience in managing 10+ team of procurement professionals and communicate with wide range of global audience (C-level executives, regulators, customs, and trade associations).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
• Advanced negotiation and analytical skills required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from suppliers and all levels of staff and management, both shipboard and shoreside.
Financial Responsibilities:
• $10,000 expenditure limit.
• Oversees a multi-million-dollar commodity spend. (~$200 million annual)
