The purpose of the Senior Director Capability role is to drive our capabilities agenda across the North America Operating Unit in partnership with the global enterprise capabilities COE and the community of NAOU functional capability leads. This role is expected to bring subject matter expertise in Capabilities and to provide consulting advice, expertise and leadership to HR and business leaders on our capabilities strategy and execution. Strong ability to manage and navigate a complex stakeholder environment are critical to ensuring a strong integration with our business strategy and interface to the broader company’s capabilities agenda. Capability development has been identified as a critical strategic pillar for North America, as the business continues to focus on raising the bar on performance, and this role will be a driver of that strategy.

The role partners with the Global COE, NAOU business leaders, Human Resources partners and other capabilities leaders to define, build, deploy and continuously enhance a comprehensive capability strategy and curriculum across the NAOU organization. The role also serves as an interface between our capabilities and talent agenda, ensuring our capability investments are in service of accelerating our talent strategy.

What You’ll Do for Us:


  • Lead the implementation, acceleration and adoption of global enterprise capability building tools/programs and resources for NAOU in partnership with the Global COE, in line with the development needed to support the business strategy, with a strong focus on the employee experience.
  • Coach and consult with the business to determine capability needs, providing strategic guidance during annual and long-range business planning and as business transformation needs arise.
  • Manage the NAOU Capability Hub and Thrive Learning offerings, ensuring effective employee messaging and connectivity through a comprehensive commercialization plan.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on matters related to capability development.
  • Participate in regular NAOU LT routines, providing our leadership with status updates on the progress of our capability strategy, including the measurable results and key insights
  • Join the dots between our talent strategy and capabilities agenda
  • Play a leadership role with our NAOU functional capability leads, providing coaching and support that ensures capability programs across the OU reflect the evolving needs of the business and support long-term organizational growth objectives.
  • Host monthly routines, integration of functional plans and facilitation of annual capability camp.
  • Partner with the connected Capability Leads community across Functions, Operating Units, and the global COE to share, learn and scale best practices to drive growth in our people and our business; including co-creation of shared solutions
  • Assess capability and skill needs and gaps across NAOU and develop plans to address the key opportunities, analyzing data to target where to best leverage strategic resources.
  • Define, track, and measure learning objectives and business outcomes for capability programs to drive action and accountability. Partner with the Talent Programs Senior Manager on the delivery of meaningful data and insights in support of advancing our capabilities agenda.
  • Monitor feedback on core programs to identify key themes and iterate program design and experience to maximize the time employees invest in development initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in Capability, Corporate Learning, Talent and Development or HR roles including leadership and management experience
  • Ability to work in a diverse cultural environment as a highly efficient communicator and influencer at all levels
  • Proven ability to set strategy and drive execution against that strategy Experience managing multiple inputs and juggling many priorities

This position reports to the Senior Director of Talent and Development- NAOU. While this role does not have any direct reports, it will lead a networked team across NAOU for collaborative initiatives.
