Job Summary
Reporting to the System Privacy Officer, the Senior Privacy Manager will be primarily responsible for managing and monitoring regulatory requirements and escalating privacy risks to departmental leadership across the UK HealthCare enterprise (i.e., HIPAA, Kentucky state privacy law, etc.), and then making recommendations regarding changes to internal processes and/or corrective action to correct and align with regulations. The role will also research privacy when complex analysis and written communication is required. This individual will also conduct investigations on issues in order to determine HIPAA Privacy breaches or delineate risks associated with federal requirements. This individual will conduct regular monitoring activities related to HIPAA compliance.
The Senior Privacy Manager will have oversight of and analysis of privacy related health care laws and regulations. This will require the ability to communicate regulatory requirements and pertinent information effectively to audiences who are largely unfamiliar with these topics. In collaboration with other staff in the Office of Corporate Compliance (OCC), this position will review departmental processes and functions to facilitate compliance with federal and state requirements, including assessing risks, identifying trends, presenting results and making recommendations for improvements to UK HealthCare leadership. This position will also provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching, and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.
Other duties include training new and existing UK HealthCare staff on privacy policies and procedures used for workflow and providing cross-training opportunities for staff in order to achieve goals. This position will provide personnel management support, including oversight of time management, hiring, training, coaching, and corrective action processes for OCC staff, and will complete annual performance evaluations for direct reports.

Preferred Education/Experience
Juris Doctorate and/or MHA and experience with HIPAA Privacy Rule. Privacy Certification of or Compliance Certification preferred (CIPP/CHPC/CHC). Preferred experience in corporate compliance healthcare administration and/or 3 or more years legal or regulatory experience; research, legal analysis, writing, interacting with governmental agencies, regulatory research, presentations on healthcare.
