As a Commodity Manager and Digital Transformation Expert for Supply Chain Management Logistics, you will be at the forefront of driving and executing transformative strategies that redefine efficiency, visibility, and sustainability in the expedited shipping mode. Your mission is to identify, develop, and implement cutting-edge solutions that not only optimize costs but also elevate the customer experience across in the US and Hub America. This role demands a visionary leader with a blend of strategic thinking, industry expertise, technological prowess, and change management skills to navigate and spearhead complex transformation initiatives. Get ready to lead the charge towards sustainable and cost-effective shipping modalities like truckload, van, rail, ocean, alternative fuel vehicles, and consolidation.

Key Responsibilities: Commodity Management & Digital Transformation
Strategy and Vision
- Transform the strategy for Alternative Air Freight with real-time track and trace, maintaining service and safety requirements.
Expedited Shipping and Customs Brokerage
- Expedited Shipping: Optimize expedited shipping mode for timely and cost-effective performance. Collaborate with logistics partners and stakeholders to negotiate favorable terms and improve service.
- Customs Brokerage: Negotiate competitive terms and conditions to ensure compliance with international trade regulations and efficient clearance of goods. Collaborate with stakeholders to address the resolution of Customs issues and streamline the import/export partnership with customs brokers.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks in expedited shipping and customs brokerage. Develop contingency plans for potential disruptions.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Digital Transformation
- Champion the Transformation Strategy: Collaborate with stakeholders to refine a strategy and roadmap for streamlining processes, enhancing performance, and sustainability. Prioritize industry-leading innovations.
- Trend Analysis and Innovation Scouting: Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions like AI, IoT, cloud computing, automation, robotics, data analytics, and digital twins.
- Business Case Development: Develop business cases for digitalization initiatives, articulating value proposition, ROI, risks, and benefits to secure approvals and funding.
- Long-Term Planning: Contribute to strategic planning for logistics, embedding mode and process optimization as core enablers of future growth, resilience, and sustainability.
Project Management and Implementation
- Lead Projects: Manage complex, cross-functional projects from concept to deployment using methodologies like Agile and Waterfall. Define scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, risk management, and communication plans.
- Technology Selection and Integration: Select and integrate technologies and platforms for logistics solutions. Ensure seamless integration with existing systems like TMS, WMS, and ERP. Manage vendor relationships and system implementation.
- Process Optimization and Automation: Streamline and automate processes through digital solutions. Lead process re-engineering to eliminate manual tasks, reduce errors, improve efficiency, and enhance data accuracy.
- Pilot Programs and Proof of Concepts: Test and execute pilot programs to validate new digital solutions before large-scale deployment. Analyze results and refine implementation plans.
Data Analytics and Insights
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Promote a data-driven culture within logistics. Use data and analytics to identify optimization opportunities, monitor performance, and inform strategic decisions.
- Data Quality and Governance: Ensure data quality, accuracy, and transparency for strategic logistics pooling. Contribute to data governance frameworks.
- Advanced Analytics Application: Apply advanced analytics techniques like predictive analytics and machine learning to optimize logistics pooling, improve forecast accuracy, enhance risk management, and personalize stakeholder experiences.
Stakeholder Management and Change Management
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across SCM, business units, and external partners.
- Communication and Engagement: Communicate the digitalization vision, strategy, and project progress to stakeholders. Ensure organizational buy-in and alignment.
- Change Management: Lead organizational change for digitalization initiatives. Develop and implement change management plans to address resistance, facilitate adoption, and ensure smooth transitions.
- Training and Capability Building: Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance digital skills and capabilities. Foster a culture of continuous learning and digital literacy.
Sustainability and Innovation
- Sustainable Logistics: Implement digital solutions for sustainability goals, such as route optimization for emissions reduction, digital documentation for paper reduction, and shipment consolidation.
- Explore Emerging Technologies for Sustainability: Evaluate technologies like AI, blockchain, and IoT for supply chain transparency and environmental monitoring.
- Promote a Culture of Innovation: Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the logistics organization. Foster experimentation and adoption of new digital approaches.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or another degree from an accredited university with a focus in same.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, with a strong understanding of logistics (transportation, freight management, and platform/market exchange) and supply chain operations.
- 5+ years leading and managing digitalization and transformation initiatives within a logistics or supply chain environment to include, implementing digital solutions and achieving measurable business results.
- Experience with various logistics technologies and systems (TMS, WMS, ERP, freight visibility platforms, freight market exchange, etc.).
- Understanding of Supply Chain Management principles, specifically digital technologies relevant to logistics (AI, IoT, cloud, blockchain, data analytics, automation).
- Project management expertise (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)

The pay range for this position is $89,670 – $153,720. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
