Responsibilities

Conducts activities and tasks to effectively implement and maintain the medication diversion surveillance program. Participates in the investigation process of suspected medication diversion incidents. Provides support for the Drug Diversion Response Team. Participates in continuous improvement, education and planning activities. Performs other miscellaneous activities, as assigned.



Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Completion of a two-year college or vocational school program (Healthcare or Business preferred) AND a minimum of one-year applicable pharmacy experience,
    OR
  • Completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training program AND at least two years of applicable pharmacy experience,
    OR
  • High school diploma AND three-years applicable pharmacy experience

Additional Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of medication dispensing technology (e.g. Pyxis Automated Dispensing System, Pyxis CII Safe).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, and work independently with minimal supervision. Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • The following are preferred: Experience in medication diversion detection and prevention. Knowledge and understanding of medication and controlled substances laws at the federal, state and local level (e.g. Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Agency). Familiarity with JCAHO Medication Management Standards. Previous experience in trending and analyzing data.

License or Certification


  • Registration with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy as required.
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Note: This pay-range spans from the minimum for a Medication Diversion Specialist Tech to the maximum for a Medication Diversion Specialist Tech V. Placement within a level and within the range is dependent on experience and qualifications. $23.42 – $39.82 / hour
