Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.



We seek an automation support scientist to assist with small molecule screening workflows and related instrumentation. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a strong foundation in either lab automation, lab operations and logistics, or instrumentation management, and have experience with equipment from one or more of the following vendors: Hamilton, HighRes, Revvity, Agilent, and/or Beckman Coulter. The successful candidate will be the first level of instrumentation support in our high throughput screening and cell culture labs and will assist with troubleshooting errors, routine liquid handler and dispenser QC, minor mechanical repair, IT related troubleshooting and escalation, and vendor relationship management. In addition to the systems listed above, familiarity with liquid handling instrumentation (e.g. Bravo, Hamilton Star, or similar) and detection instrumentation (e.g. Envision, PheraStar, FLIPR, or similar) is a plus.

Key responsibilities:


  • Routine lab operations support including instrument maintenance, managing vendor interactions and service calls, and other coordination across groups (IT, facilities, instrumentation)
  • Create, test, and QC new methods on liquid handlers, detectors, and other benchtop equipment
  • Assist discovery project teams with setting up, monitoring, and successfully completing daily automated runs
  • Create and test new scheduler methods on our fully automated robotic platforms
  • Troubleshoot and escalate errors as required, including minor mechanical repairs as appropriate
  • Coordinate and support routine instrument maintenance to ensure high performance of automation systems

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
  • Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’)
  • OR Masters degree

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and software processes related to integrated equipment
  • Experience with laboratory operations and workflows including supply chain, instrument maintenance, and IT support
  • Self-motivation, independence, organization, and effective communication skills; adept in solving/troubleshooting complex problems as well as the ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment
