Social Worker – Psychiatric Evaluation Center – Evenings & Weekend

in this role, the Social Worker will work as part of a team to establish a working diagnoses and referral of patients to appropriate level of care within one of our many psychiatric care units. Here, you’ll experience all the reasons why you entered such a rewarding field.



This position will work 5 evenings/week. This position located at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Westchester Behavioral Health Center.

Preferred Criteria


  • A minimum of two year of Social Work experience in providing psychiatric evaluations and formulating treatment for patients
  • New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license

Required Criteria

  • Master Degree in Social Work
  • Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) by the State of New York
  • Fieldwork or previous experience in a psychiatric setting
  • Demonstrated integrity and adherence to social work ethics and professional standards
  • Capacity to form a therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients and to maintain a neutral therapeutic stance
  • Knowledge base of bio-psychosocial model, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV) diagnoses, criteria for treatment of different diagnoses in an acute care setting, behavioral risk factors and of the impact of mental illness upon individual and family functioning
  • Competency in individual, family and group treatment modalities and treatment techniques appropriate to an inpatient treatment setting
  • Ability to conduct initial evaluations and psychosocial assessments and to establish individualized and measurable treatment goals
  • Knowledge base of community and discharge planning resources and processes
  • Effective organizational skills to manage clinical, discharge planning and documentation requirements within assigned LOS of inpatient hospitalization
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated self-awareness to identify learning needs and capacity to apply supervisory feedback into practice

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

Salary Range:



$46.15-$60.50/Hourly
