Position Summary

Position Summary:
Coordinates patient flow through the unit, prioritize and assign exams, monitor quality control and perform radiographic exams for use by physicians in the development of diagnoses and treatment plans.
 

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Successful completion of an accredited program of Radiology and two (2) years of experience as a radiological technologist.
 
Licensing/Certification Requirements:

Valid American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) Certification in Radiography and State of Nevada License in Radiology. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of:
Radiographic examination procedures and protocols; federal and state regulations applicable to area of assignment; diagnostic x-ray equipment; quality assurance and quality control standards; personal computers; staff scheduling and work flow analysis; anatomy and physiology of the human body; contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms; venipuncture techniques; anatomy and physiology; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Coordinating staff schedules to cover work flow; evaluating quality control; assigning and monitoring the work of others; use of diagnostic x-ray equipment; positioning patients properly to maximize results; writing clear and concise reports; providing quality patient care; applying radiation safety principles; applying asceptic principles; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
