JOB LOCATION:
South Durham Dermatology- 234 Crooked Creek Pkwy, Durham, NC
$7,500 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments (6 months and 12 months).
Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the sign-on bonus.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients. South Durham Dermatology is a high functioning, busy clinic that sees a variety of skin problems including skin cancers and contact dermatitis. This is an area that provides many opportunities for enhancing knowledge and skills.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
- Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform provider.
- Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
- Assists providers with procedures such as biopsies and excisions.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
- Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection & sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
- Attain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.
- Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Level I — Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
- Level II — Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
- High school or GED graduation required.
- Level II — 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
- BLS required.
JOB HOURS:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
