Medical Assistant/Technician Medical Surgical – Queens Medical Group / Forest Hills

Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical functions, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to assist the practitioners and management in daily office operations.

In this role, you will:

• Observe the patient’s condition, report abnormal conditions to the staff nurse, and record appropriate documentation in the patient’s records.
• Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings.
• Draw blood from patients and/or perform finger sticks and obtain other specimens as physician or registered nurse requested.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
• Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc.

This is a Full-Time position Monday-Friday- varied hours from 8:00AM – 5:00PM, and there is the possibility of Evenings and Weekends or other shifts, overtime as needed. May be required to travel and cover for other practice locations as needed.

Preferred Criteria

• Medical Assistant experience within a healthcare setting.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT
• A minimum of one-year medical assistant experience or internship in a physician practice
• Bilingual candidates would be a plus (English Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese)

Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
