The goal of the Assistant General Manager is to orchestrate memorable and unique guest experiences by leading a team of well-trained, inspired, and passionate individuals. Technical duties include floor operations, scheduling, service standards, guest satisfaction, reservations, opening/closing, end-of-day reporting, inventory, waste recording, sanitation, safety, incident documenting and reporting, and other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Completion of daily opening and/or closing duties according to checklists and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Quality control and assurance of prepared food and packaged product
  • Resolve escalations with a positive outcome when the need to do so arises and lead staff to feel empowered to do the same
  • Ensure communication and efforts between culinary leadership and front of house are seamless and unified
  • Supervise staff and coordinate day-to-day operations of each assigned shift
  • Delegate duties to staff and send associates on break at appropriate times
  • Assist in properly training staff to execute service standards for presentation, delivery of food and beverage, and service style
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all aspects of each position and be able to jump in and provide support as needed
  • Daily POS computer operations, daily cash-out reporting, FOH staff timekeeping & tip processing, alcoholic beverage security, and operating supply ordering
  • Assist in the creation and execution of training plans based on operating procedures
  • Have a presence in the dining areas to curate the experience at 192
  • Communicate with guests and solicit their feedback, address issues as needed
  • Observe staff interactions with guests; coach, train, and correct staff as needed
  • Identify areas of opportunity within the operation to enhance the speed of delivery, quality of food and beverage, and consistency and quality of the delivery experience. Work closely with the General Manager and the team to continuously improve all areas
  • Review and understand financial information, as well as perform basic arithmetic
  • Assist the General Manager in conducting performance reviews of each employee throughout their employment
  • Complete daily financial reports and end-of-shift notes
  • Assist with special events as needed (set-up, tear-down, and room reset)
  • Understand and communicate products and services available at the resort
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in high volume, high quality, casual fine dining leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management is preferred
  • Candidate must have New Mexico Food Handler & Alcohol Server Certifications upon hire
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining FOH systems of operation
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during holidays and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

Will often lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Positions dealing with children, of a safety-sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving, or positions that handle cash may require a background check and MVR check. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and MVR check.
