A local well-established organization focused on environmental remediation in Ft. Meade is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant with tax experience. This role will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end closings. Key duties include handling accounts payable and receivable, payroll, insurance, and leasing, with a strong focus on compliance and improving financial processes.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for month-end and year-end closings, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure the accurate closing of monthly and annual financial books
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoices, payments, expense reports, and collections, while maintaining accurate customer records and ensuring timely payments
- Manage payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and prepare payroll reports and maintain employee records
- Oversee insurance policies, renewals, and manage leasing agreements and related financial records
- Utilize QuickBooks for all accounting functions, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and providing financial analysis to support decision-making
- Prepare and file business-related taxes, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and assist with internal and external audits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support smooth financial operations and assist with ad-hoc financial management tasks and reporting requests
Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on month-end and year-end closing processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling, required
- Solid understanding of sales tax rules and regulations in Florida, required
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and leasing
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Experience with Microsoft Access data base
- Experience in reviewing, interpreting, and drafting legal documents and contracts
What You Can Expect
- $60,000 – $70,000/yr – depending on experience
- Schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
