The Role

The Accounting and Finance Analyst will support the Risk Management Department out of our corporate office in Chicago in various financial capacities related to Hyatt’s insurance program. The responsibilities will primarily include, but are not limited to, monthly financial close support including accruals and review of account reconciliations, analytics on Hyatt’s captive insurance company, cash forecasting and analysis, and coordination with Corporate Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable on insurance-related billings.



Essential Functions

  • Compile monthly insurance expense accruals
  • Assign proper general ledger account coding to insurance receivables and payables
  • Prepare hotel-specific ad hoc P&L reports when requested by third-party insurance claim providers
  • Monitor insurance program expense activity and assist with ad hoc expense analysis
  • Assist with periodic requests to support actuarial and audit reports
  • Work with Corporate Accounting to review monthly insurance account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to process insurance program payables and receivables timely and with proper approvals
  • Manage Service Now ticket queue for invoice payment inquiries and requests and submit invoices to Accounts Payable for processing
  • Assist with processing expense reports for department personnel as needed
  • Perform periodic cost allocations and analyses leveraging automated tools (e.g. Alteryx)
  • Audit work to help ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Suggest process improvements with a focus on enhancing efficiency
  • Assist the Hyatt Legal Department and Property teams with collateral compliance efforts with bonding and licensing requirements
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather, review and submit the required “Know Your Customer” documentation in complained with regulatory standards
  • Ensure compliance with SOC requirements and support the successful completion of SOC report reviews and associated compliance
  • Assist Compliance Manager to ensure Hyatt’s adherence to state regulations for workers’ compensation insurance compliance in Self-Insured states
  • Assist the Hyatt Tax Department with insurance-related compliance and return filings

Qualifications


Experience

  • 1-3years experience in accounting, finance, data analytics, or related field
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with financial statements and corporate finance concepts preferred
  • Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, experience preferred


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Oracle R12 Financials a plus, but not required

Additional Comments and Requirements

  • Infrequent travel may be required (up to 5% of the time)
