Accounting Manager

WorkWhile is looking for a Lead Accountant/Accounting Manager reporting into the Head of Finance. This hire will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial records and in developing scalable and sustainable processes as the business grows. You will own a key role in cash movements, customer contracts, vendor payments, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and more. You will have a 360 degree view of our business and work cross functionally within a detail-oriented environment where creative problem solving is highly valued. The individual is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.

• Ownership of the accounting processes and activities, including full cycle close, AR, and AP Processes
• Supervises and provide guidance to accounting contractors to ensure finance priorities delivered
• Ensure timely close through supervision, preparation, and review of journal entries, reconciliations and variance analytics, and coordination with the broader team.
• Owns the 1099 process for workers on our platform
• Build finance infrastructure in preparation for future finance systems & external audit
• Identify and deliver process improvements via cross functional collaboration
• Create sustainable, repeatable and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentation
• Act as the subject matter expert on the above areas and work with technical accounting team to research, resolve and communicate technical issues
• Serve as a key contact between accounting, finance, and the broader business organization to help with key projects, initiatives, transactions, and planning recommendations

• College graduate with a 4-year degree in Accounting or related field
• Strong grasp of GAAP and accounting principles
• Proficiency in excel, google sheets, and key accounting systems & process
• 3-7 years of public accounting and/or private industry experience
• Have an owner’s mentality in a fast paced environment
• Experience implementing accounting and business systems (Quickbooks, Bill.com, Stripe, Hubspot)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage deadlines effectively
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills
