Job Overview:
You are responsible for a variety of tasks including the overall check-in and check-out process for the administrative reception area from greeting guests and staff upon arrival, identifying their needs and handling requests, etc. Receptionists are knowledgeable about Taos Ski Valley and able to provide directions to guests and staff including hours of operation, services provided, mountain statistics, and the adventurous offerings of our scenic surroundings. You possess an open-hearted and upbeat demeanor and strive to build lasting relationships with internal and external guests and staff. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring to inquiries. Directs calls to the proper person/department and screens calls as necessary; transfers calls on request.

  • Directs visitors by maintaining employee and department directories and giving instructions.
  • Assists employees and guests with various requests.
  • Provides clerical/secretarial support to the administrative office and HR.
  • Maintains security by following procedures; monitoring the logbook; and issuing visitor badges.
  • Maintains a safe and clean reception area.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Answers employment inquiries.
  • Picks up, sorts, and distributes mail.
  • Inform departments and marketing teams of missing information on the website.
  • Keeps the administration office clean and orderly.
  • Knowledge of how to fax and photocopy.
  • Checks and answers company email.
  • Listen to daily snow reports.
  • Exclusive information received.
  • Knowledge of how to file paperwork; handles safety-sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Inventories and stocks office, kitchen, and bathroom supplies.
  • Responsible for the neat, professional appearance of the reception area, lobby, and mailroom.
  • Process/receive payment by credit, or debit transactions.
  • Sell tickets and exchange vouchers.
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.
  • Siriusware Point of Sales and closeouts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Telephone Skills: pleasant telephone voice, aware of what is going on in the background while talking on the telephone.
  • Verbal Communication with staff and guests; listens well to instructions or takes instructions well.
  • Filing skills are needed, but not required.
  • Typing ability and knowledge of computers; Can type the average speed of words per minute and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Professionalism: ability to work effectively with many different people, outgoing and tactful personality.
  • Demonstrates or applies appropriate guest service skills to both our internal employees and external guests.Works well under pressure and shows initiative during slower periods.
  • Organization; from office appearance to personal hygiene. Neat appearance/Cleanliness.
  • Supply management: knows how to order basic office supplies or guide staff to the appropriate person to order.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:
Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during holidays and Peak days. TSVI is in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:
May frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Sitting/standing approximately 70% of the time. Walking, reaching, and bending approximately 20% of the time.
This position will require individuals to be out in winter conditions 10% of the time.

Positions dealing with children, of safety-sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving or positions that handle cash may require a background check and MVR check. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and MVR check.
