Disney Interactive Media Group
The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) team is responsible for supporting clients across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) including Disney Experiences (DX), Disney Entertainment (e.g., ABC, The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Theatrical, etc.), ESPN (ESPN Networks, ESPN+), and Corporate Finance. DDSI leverages technology, data analytics, optimization, and statistical modeling to build innovative tools that shape business decisions and drive business value.
Application Engineers on the DDSI team design, build, and ship strategic software applications that enable internal business decision-makers to view and manage data related to decision science workflows. These applications range from web-based end-user experiences to RESTful APIs and orchestrated data services. In this role, as an Application Engineer, you will be part of a team that is enhancing web-based analytic platforms for Disney Experiences (DX). You will design, build, and ship new functionality. This role requires a sense of urgency, attention to detail, a platform mindset, and a collaborative work ethic.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and ship new features of a cutting-edge software platform that serves strategic internal business decision-makers for Disney Experiences (DX)
- Collaborate with other Application Engineers to build application pages, services, and components as specified, prioritized, and scheduled by Product leads
- Collaborate with Product Managers to understand business opportunities and requirements
- Work with Data Scientists to create user-friendly front-ends for science model inputs & outputs
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to build data storage, retrieval, and archiving routines
- Propose creative user experiences through working prototypes that meet business and application requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in software development with expertise in at least one language
- 2+ years of experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript
- 2+ years of experience with Python
- Experience building application pages and services that process large and complex volumes of data with PostgreSQL and Snowflake
- Proven experience building full-stack web platforms on cloud infrastructure
- Ability to build software that addresses complex data problems with user-friendly solutions
- Proficient in optimizing front-end and back-end applications for large and complex datasets
- Experience working in a team software development lifecycle process
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Django
- Experience with Next.js
- Experience with UX/UI design
- Proficient in AWS web application architecture
Education:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study and/or equivalent work experience
Preferred
- Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study and/or equivalent work experience
