The Assistant Human Resources Manager will support the HR department in creating a positive and professional workplace environment. The ideal candidate will assist in the administration of HR policies, employee relations, recruitment, and training while ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards. This role is integral to maintaining the luxury hospitality standards of Alila Ventana Big Sur.



Key Responsibilities

  • HR Operations and Compliance
    • Assist in the implementation and management of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws, hotel policies, and industry standards.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including payroll and benefits information.
    • Support audits and provide reports as required by the HR Director.

  • Recruitment and Onboarding
    • Assist with talent acquisition efforts, including posting job openings, screening candidates, and conducting initial interviews.
    • Coordinate and execute onboarding programs for new hires, ensuring a seamless integration into the team.
    • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and address recruitment challenges.

  • Employee Relations
    • Support the HR Manager in fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with hotel values.
    • Address employee concerns and mediate conflicts, escalating issues when necessary.
    • Assist in the design and implementation of employee recognition and engagement initiatives.

  • Training and Development
    • Coordinate training programs for employees to enhance skills and performance.
    • Maintain training records and assist in identifying opportunities for employee development.
    • Promote career growth and succession planning within the organization.

  • Performance Management
    • Support the performance appraisal process by assisting managers with evaluations and feedback discussions.
    • Monitor and track employee performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
    • Assist in the development and enforcement of performance improvement plans.

  • Benefits and Payroll Support
    • Provide guidance to employees on benefits, leave policies, and other HR-related matters.
    • Assist with payroll processing and resolving employee payroll inquiries.


The Hourly Range for this position is $23 – $26 per hour. This is the pay range for this position at Alila Ventana Big Sur reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience, and education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in the hospitality or luxury service industry preferred
  • Familiarity with HR software and systems (e.g., HRIS).
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
