The Civil Designer Sr works as part of a dynamic team of designers and engineers responsible for civil design, including geometry, grading, hydrology/hydraulics, utility coordination and the preparation of construction drawings for the site/area development of an individual facility/attraction, land, or theme park project.


You will report to the Manager, Civil Engineering. 



This is a(n) (estimated project length) Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement. 

What You Will Do


  • Prepare civil construction documents for site/area development projects of medium complexity.
  • Organize comprehensive civil construction drawing packages in accordance with department and division standards.
  • Ensure technical quality and conformance with industry standards and WDI master specifications, department standards, and procedures.
  • Monitor progress of work and ensure that technical quality, interdisciplinary coordination and production requirements are met.
  • Assist in developing soft cost design estimates for civil design and drafting.
  • Work independently with minimum supervision, demonstrating an ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline project team environment.
  • Provide technical guidance to one or more junior civil designers in the production of construction contract documents.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 6 years of work experience in the production and use of civil engineering contract documents for commercial or industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of current technology in a facilities design discipline including the preparation of construction contract documents
  • Proficient in the use of Civil 3D for civil engineering design, production, and analysis
  • Working knowledge of grading and utility coordination including industry practices, construction methods and materials, codes, current technology and the preparation and use of contract documents in all phases of design and construction
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in the theme park, resort, or travel industry
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software


Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is desired, but not required
  • Relevant certifications in civil engineering or design

The hiring range for this position in California is $103,500.00-$138,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
