General Description of the Job Class
The Clinical Performance Improvement Associate conducts formal clinical and operational performance improvement engagements and consulting services with our clients. Creates strategies for clients engaging in improvement opportunities as determined by the client to achieve the identified benefits. Responsibilities include using change acceleration process tools to achieve our customers’ goals and drive clinical and physician product adoption of identified solutions, implementing and building sustainment/control plans for solutions. Builds project approval and charters, works breakdown structures, schedules, dependencies, resource assignments. Tracks and analyzes task completion, risk/issues, and mitigation strategies. Reviews and interprets clinical data as relates to event reporting. Completes or manages appropriate report and dashboard documents and keeps stakeholders informed.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Position
- Use your extensive clinical and operational experience in Cardiology or CT surgery to support clinical leadership in the use, control, and application of technology and data.
- Understand the data needs of physicians, practitioners, nurses, and registry clinical managers. Translate these into requirements, including computed phenotypes, so developers can build foundational data sets.
- Clinically validate datasets.
- Provide guidance on use of datasets to stakeholders and help build clinical outcome and operational reports.
- Serve as bridge between staff supporting clinical systems and clinical end users who need to use them, assisting with the development of clinical oversight and workflow procedures and reporting that promotes performance, standardization and the safest patient care practices.
- Serve as Project Manager responsible for managing the prioritization, backlog, and progress of all assigned activities associated with technology program oversight, Registries, PI/QI, Operational inquiries, and Clinical or Operational Dashboards.
- Build a full understanding of data sources strengths and weaknesses and their ability to be used to improve performance in clinical quality and/or operations. Monitor the performance of developers and provide feedback while confirming what they are producing is relevant to PI/QI, useful, and clinically accurate.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
BSN Required.
Experience
Minimum of three (3+) years of appropriate clinical experience.
One year experience in hospital administration, data analysis, performance improvement or process engineering in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required.
BLS required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Successful, data-driven track record in redesign and/or implementation efforts in the areas of clinical performance improvement.
Demonstrated ability to partner with medical staff leaders, such as a physician advisor or the Chief Medical Officer.
Demonstrated ability to effect change through team structures and achieve measurable outcomes.
Demonstrated experience influencing, managing and coaching in a matrixed organization that includes many learners, including nurses, care managers, caregiver and consumers.
Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills and ability to independently produce documents or aptitude to develop this level of skill within a defined period of time.
Flexible, positive, clear interpersonal and communication skills with ability to facilitate the exchange of information within clients and the organization.
Analytical skills related to independently interpreting, preparing and analyzing data, comparisons with relevant federal and/or other performance based data.
