The Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
Disney Music Group is seeking a Copyright Administrator to be part of DMG’s Copyright Administration team. This role will administer Disney-owned and controlled music publishing catalogs and act as a subject-matter expert on all aspects of music copyright administration for Disney’s music publishing clients.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit quarterly and semi-annual payment requests, meeting contractual deadlines
- Maintain the DMG Publishing royalty portal, including quarterly statement and data transfers, client communications and account updates
- Support clients in all aspects of music publishing royalties including address updates, payment accounts, statement and payment analysis, and royalty portal concerns
- Work collaboratively with Business Affairs, Accounting, Finance and A&R teams to complete all responsibilities
- Assist the Copyright Administration and Accounting teams with quarterly suspense clearing
- Perform general song catalog administration and maintenance tasks
- Ad hoc projects and responsibilities as required
Qualifications:
- 2+ years music publishing experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
- Working knowledge of music publishing administration
- Basic command of music publishing systems
- Familiarity with copyright protocol, performing/mechanical rights, intellectual property rights, and basic royalty accounting procedures
- Ability to review processes regularly and suggest improvements to increase process and team efficiency
- Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful, and flexible
- Effective communicator, both verbally and written
- Strong work ethic
- Detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications:
- Music royalties experience
- Bachelor’s degree
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $60,800 to $78,600 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
