Job Summary
We seek an entry-level, flexible, detail-oriented candidate to join the data team within the Prechter Bipolar Research group at the University of Michigan. This position, while entry-level, has enormous growth potential in the data science/architecture and statistical sciences. This position will support several data gathering, data storage and data analysis projects related to bipolar disorder. It is expected that the candidate will become a critical member of the research team and have the hunger to contribute on multiple opportunities towards program research and initiatives, including contributing to writing manuscripts.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Day to day management of several related data driven projects, ensuring that all project information is accurate, consistently documented, secured, and accessible.
- Create and manage RedCap data instrument collection and teach others to harmonize data elements across multiple RedCap instruments.
- Perform a wide range of data cleaning and merging procedures to prepare data sets to answer research aims.
- Attend team meetings to support the PIs and project needs while ensuring project tasks, analyses, and products are completed on time with accuracy.
- Assist with manuscripts, posters, and other project related products

Responsibilities*
- Perform a wide range of data cleaning and merging procedures to prepare data sets to answer research aims.
- Answer interpretation questions regarding how each data element is captured and utilized in psychiatric clinical data research.
- Assist with statistical data analysis and preparation of analysis results for presentations, grants and manuscripts.
- Oversee data entry, cleaning and safe storage specifically for the clinical research operations of the Prechter Bipolar Research Program.
- Create and manage RedCap data instrument collection and teach others to ze data elements across multiple RedCap instruments.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychiatry, Psychology, Biology or related field with a minor or emphasis / course work in statistical analyses, data sciences, computer sciences or math.
- Strong attention to detail and concern for information accuracy with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team effectively in a multicultural and collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational, presentation and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills including emotional intelligence, self-management, priority management, tact, and diplomacy.
Desired Qualifications*
- Interest and/or experience working in mental health utilizing multiple data streams including the electronic medical record, research surveys, wearables and mobile applications.
- Passionate about safe use of data to improve quality of life.
- Yearning to grow analytically and professionally.
- Desire to learn how to munge data and build data analysis pipelines.

M-F; 8am – 4pm
Modes of Work

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.
