The Downtown Women’s Center seeks a full-time DV Housing Case Manager to provide survivors of crime with transitional & short-term housing assistance and a range of supportive services with the goal of moving them into safe, permanent housing. DV Housing Case Managers work directly with survivors to provide housing navigation, survivor-driven advocacy, and facilitate access to additional services at DWC and peer agencies. The Case Manager will be integral in developing outreach plans to engage women in services, establish eligibility, complete enrollments into the program and connect clients to housing resources. Once a client is enrolled into the program, this position ensures clients have the needed financial resources to secure and maintain permanent housing, provides referrals, conducts safety plans, and assists with other services as needed. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team and provides innovative services that are at the forefront of homeless services. An ideal candidate practices Trauma-Informed Care and approaches case management with a strengths-based approach. This position is a member of the Clinical Department and reports directly to the Sr. Mental Health Clinician.


Essential Functions

  • Provide field-based trauma-informed case management services to survivors of crime.


  • Create individual service plans with clients that address their needs and goals.


  • Identify and provide linkage to needed resources (basic needs, health & mental health, benefits, housing, legal support, etc.).


  • Provide effective crisis intervention in consultation with program staff and supervisor.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, staff and local service providers.


  • Work to effectively meet clients’ needs and resolve individual barriers through follow-up, advocacy, and collaboration with DWC staff and other community service providers.

  • Maintain accurate and timely data records of activities, case management notes, and financial assistance and other services provided to each client.


  • Utilize Evidence Based Practices in service delivery such as Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Critical Time Intervention, and Housing First practices.

  • Enroll women who are survivors of crime, including sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking, in DWC’s Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) program and assist them in applying for Victim’s Compensation through the California Victim’s Compensation Board (CalVCB) as appropriate.


  • Attend trainings, multi-disciplinary team meetings and regular one-on-one supervision as scheduled

  • Track outcomes and monitor progress towards program goals.


  • Provide regular, timely written reports to supervisor as assigned.

  • Serve as an ambassador of DWC and its mission and values by participating in community meetings/events.


  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.



Required Education and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and strong knowledge of the complexity of poverty and women’s homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, trauma, substance abuse, health issues, and older adults preferred.  

  • Two years of experience working as a case manager/housing specialist/similar position and knowledge of community resources preferred  


  • At least two years of experience providing services to survivors of crime as a case manager or similar preferred 



Required Knowledge/Skills/Position Qualifications  



  • Excellent active listening and crisis intervention skills with ability to exercise and model good judgment.  


  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences.  



  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, including proficiency in balancing direct service responsibilities with effective record-keeping.  


  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required  HMIS or other database management preferred.  



  • 40-Hr Domestic Violence Certification a plus.  


  • Current valid California state driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle with good driving record required.  Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English a plus. Cultural humility.  




  • Must be a CA resident and live no more than 80 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWC.  


  • Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.  



  • You will be required to be up to date on your vaccinations against COVID-19 and provide documentation. 


  • If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving final primary dose. 


  • If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations.


  •  Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision

abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability

to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. The employee must be able to



operate a vehicle.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work


  • This is a full-time non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.


Travel

  • Regular travel throughout Los Angeles County is required in this position.


Job Location

  • Hybrid; with the expectation to work on-site as scheduled.
