Job Summary:

The Electrophysiology Lab Technologist is accountable to perform electrophysiology laboratory procedures in a timely and accurate manner in accord with physician’s orders. The Electrophysiology Lab Technologist will assist physicians in the performance of effective patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assists invasive cardiologists as a sterile assistant in diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures to include RF ablations, Cryo Ablations, Laser lead removal and device implants (PM, ICD, Watchman, Micra).
  • Prepares and sets up patients for procedure. This includes all preparations necessary to ensure a quality clinical outcome for the patient.
  • Prepares procedure room for Electrophysiological procedures. Obtains necessary equipment for procedures scheduled according to physicians’ preference.
  • Assists cardiologists in analytical calculations and interpretive measurements for diagnostic values.
  • Reviews, abstracts, and records procedural data before, during, and after procedures.
  • Monitors and maintains equipment and keeps it in working order to ensure continuous availability for clinical operations.
  • Performs emergency patient care management responsibilities in accordance with ACLS guidelines to ensure a quality clinical outcome for the patient.
  • Provides subject matter expertise regarding specialized technology, procedures, and procedure interpretation specific to Electrophysiology. Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge regarding area of specialty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent equired.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Technologist preferred. RCES certification required within 3 years of hire or placement
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Electrophysiology Lab, or Special Procedures area preferred. Intensive Care or relevant health care field related experience considered.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS certification within 90 days of employment
  • ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology considered.
