We are looking for a Rolling Stock Engineering Intern. This position will be based at our Sacramento area branch located in California.
During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Engineering Department where you will learn how learn about engineering design, analysis, calculations, materials, integration, concurrent engineering, project engineering, validation/verification and manufacturing best practices. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the work we do to ensure that engineering deliverables are safe, complete, validated and on time.

A little bit about us
Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.
How does Engineering play into the big picture?
Our Rolling Stock team works on delivering product offerings such as light rail vehicles, electric locomotives, diesel-electric locomotives, and passenger coaches. Our operations team ensures that departments like employee health & safety, supply chain management, logistics, car shell welding, bogie fabrication and assembly, electrical subassembly, gluing, painting, and vehicle final assembly run smoothly.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- will be working alongside our Engineers.
- compile & analyze data, prepare engineering deliverables and assist in troubleshooting efforts.
- using business software application tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, SAP
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Who Should Apply?
- with strong technical or analytical aptitude
- Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August
- Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
- Prior internship or co-op experience (preferred) with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills
- Industry knowledge and/or interest

You’ll benefit from:
The hourly pay range for this position is $28 – $32 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
