The Banquet Captain is responsible for the execution and end result of various types of banquet and meeting functions. This role leads other colleagues by coaching, giving direction, upholding the hotel’s standards and goals, and may include training and scheduling. They are the onsite point of contact for the meeting planner/client for their functions and responsible for making the function space visually appealing and presenting the menu offering for the event. Other duties include general banquet preparation including linen and table setting, food station design, beverage service, cashiering room refreshes, overseeing event setup and room sets, and maintaining a sanitary environment.
• Lead and assist Housepersons with set up to ensure compliance with event specifications and with clean up and break-down after events
• Assist Housepersons with and oversee a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning/waxing floors, removing and disposing of trash
• Assist with planning, organization and execution of all event functions
• Greet clients/guests and respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
• Participate in and lead department meetings, as needed

Qualifications
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
- Customer service oriented
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in diverse teams to achieve shared goals and deliver exceptional results
- Experience and thorough understanding of event services, preferably in a hotel setting
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Prior leadership experience
- Availability to work varied schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
