Job Summary
The Department of Genetic Counseling in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston is seeking a 0.25 FTE faculty member to start August 1, 2024.
The faculty member is primarily responsible for coordinating and teaching two M.S. Genetic Counseling courses: “Pediatric and Adult Genetic Counseling” and “Advanced Clinical and Medical Genetics”.
Additional, responsibilities include facilitating the student fieldwork experience within Mass General Brigham (MGB, BWH) in order for students to meet case requirements in accordance with ACGC (Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling) requirements.
Other teaching opportunities are available.
Qualifications
In collaboration with other faculty, responsibilities include:
- Enhancing and evaluating student standardized patient experiences,
- Curriculum development,
- Student recruitment and the admissions process.
Additional roles include:
- Serving as a Capstone research advisor.
- The successful applicant will also be expected to take part in scholarly and professional activities.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates within Mass General Brigham who are already supervising students for clinical fieldwork and are well-positioned to serve as the fieldwork liaison to the M.S. Genetic Counseling Program, coordinating all components for students to meet case requirements to meet ACGC requirements.
- Specifically, there is strong preference for a genetic counselor already employed within Mass General Brigham, Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Experience in supervising students in fieldwork, teaching, and scholarship is preferred.

The MGH Institute of Health Professions is an accredited graduate school located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard overlooking downtown Boston and is part of the Mass General Brigham (the largest healthcare provider in New England).
Qualifications
- The candidate must have a master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program, be ABGC Board-certified and licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (or eligible for MA licensure),
- Have at least 3 years of experience as a genetic counselor.
