Job Opportunity: Finance and Accounting Analyst
The Finance and Accounting Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization's financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities. This role involves preparing financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial data to support decision-making processes.
Also assists in monitoring and managing the organization's financial performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing support to the CFO office in strategic financial planning. This position plays a crucial role in helping the nonprofit organization achieve its financial goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
• Supports short forecasting, controller's sheet, and annual plan financial planning processes by preparing financials (profit and loss (P&L), balance sheet, and cash flow); directing return-on-investment calculation; reporting and understanding drivers, trends, and competition performance.
• Maintains financial records, technical and fiscal analyses, and accounting in a multi-fund/account environment for current and future budgets, operations, investments, bonds, fixed assets, grants, and debt.
• Plans and audits transactions related to asset, liability, equity, revenue, and expenditure accounts for compliance with accounting policies, planning, and contractual requirements.
• Analyzes entries, transactions, and accounts affecting financial statements to ensure accuracy and tracks appropriate accrual or adjusting entries.
• Supports accounts payable functions: Receive, process, and verify invoices.
Manage and schedule payments to vendors. Maintains accurate records of transactions.
• Reviews and monitors budgets, expenditures, and contracts to ensure conformity with federal and state laws and regulations.
• Prepares periodic financial reports and other special reports required for federal, state, and internal purposes.
• Works with external auditors, internal auditors, professionals, and experts during the audit process and serves as a professional team member in producing the organization's comprehensive finance, accounting, budget, capital, and operating budgets, forecasts, and reports.
• Assists in updating and developing policies and procedures to ensure the adequacy of accounting controls to permit the preparation of financial budgets and accounting statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Researches and conducts studies to make recommendations to management.
• Provides grant support, including related forms and processing.
• Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience and skills required
• At least two (2) years of experience working as a Financial & Accounting Analyst.
• Advanced computer skills and software application(s) use, including MS Office.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Ability to work with multiple tasks simultaneously, gather, collect, and analyze data, work independently, and maintain confidentiality of the information reviewed.
• The skills to facilitate group discussions, analyze situations, define issues, and draw conclusions.
• Problem-solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
• Fully Bilingual (English & Spanish, oral and written).
• The ability to choose the correct mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
• The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.
Full-time Opportunity
Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hybrid work; San Juan, PR
