Those in cloud operations at PwC will focus on managing and optimising cloud infrastructure and services to enable seamless operations and high availability for clients. You will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing industry leading practices for cloud-based systems.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

Demonstrates thorough abilities and/or success in one or many of the following areas:


  • Develop and implement FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments;
  • Lead tagging and labeling strategies to ensure granular tracking of cloud costs;
  • Develop systems control policies / policies to enforce guardrails in AWS/Azure/Google to enforce desired behaviors;
  • Customize simple dashboards in QuickSight, PowerBI, Looker, etc to increase the level of cost transparency across Application Development teams;
  • Configure automated tools and help develop processes to detect, analyze, and manage cloud cost anomalies. Support configuration of alerts through 3rd party systems like ServiceNow, PagerDuty, et al;
  • Support the integration between systems like AWS Trusted Advisor and JIRA to capture and track cost improvement activities from discovery through closure; and,
  • Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, finance, and operations to ensure adherence to FinOps industry standard practices.

Demonstrates thorough level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in the following areas:

  • Cloud Platform Expertise: Proven experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP), with preference for multi-cloud proficiency;
  • Tagging and Labeling: Hands-on experience implementing tagging frameworks to support resource tracking and cost management;
  • Cost Optimization: Expertise in rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and identifying unused resources to minimize costs;
  • Expertise with resource schedulers like ParkMyCloud and cloud native scheduler utilities;
  • Resource Allocation: Knowledge of chargeback/showback models, business mapping of costs, and allocating resources to projects or teams effectively;
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Proven skills in predictive modeling for cloud usage and budgeting to ensure cost predictability and alignment with financial goals;
  • Cost Anomaly Detection: Proficiency in tools and techniques to identify and resolve irregularities in cloud spend;
  • Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with cloud-native tools like AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and GCP Billing, as well as third-party tools like Apptio, CloudHealth, or Spot.io; and,
  • Systems Administration capabilities to maintain Sandbox environments including setup of IAM roles and new users, logging and the ability to review and interpret log information.

The salary range for this position is: $84,000 – $202,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles that are based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range for this position. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
