Position Summary


Is responsible for collecting and processing fuel and transportation data relevant to the Fuel Supply area. Fuel refers to coal, biomass, RDF, fuel oil, or other combustible materials used for the generation of electricity. Processes data into performance metrics for senior management and corporate stakeholders in order to gauge the performance of the fuel delivery process. Provides technical leadership in commodity procurement and transportation service acquisition strategies. Identifies trends as well as procurement and transportation process optimization. Interfaces with forward analysis in order to ensure that generation Plexos model and performance metric impact on the Fuel procurement plan is accurately reflected in fuel and transportation commercial obligations. Supports the critical budgetary and fuel planning process.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain a database of metrics relevant to the fuel procurement process.
  • Model existing contractual agreements. Develop optionality and creative solutions to contractual issues.
  • Design and perform quantitative studies of historical and forecasted commodity prices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement system operations. Design and create analytical studies to model opportunities for cost savings and alternative procurement strategies.
  • Analyze and forecast future fuel and transportation market trends at strategic decision points.
  • Support corporate regulatory compliance activities related to fuel procurement activities.
  • Support resource planning activities as it relates to the fuel and logistics arena.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the energy industry.
  • Coal, power, energy and/or transportation experience desirable.
  • Significant experience working on detailed technical matters, complex modeling, and the optimization of commodity and transportation services contracts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $82,800.00 to $117,600.00 per year
